Best wiki platform

After experiences with Socialtext and Confluence we chose MindTouch Deki for our service platform because of its superior architecture and extensibility. Another big plus is it's real open source, the company support on the forum and wiki is excellent and the community is strong. MindTouch job deserves all my 5 stars and probably something more...

Best wiki I found, and I looked at a lot.

I was tasked with finding a wiki that was both modern looking and easy to program with. I must have downloaded and tried about 20 before I settled on Dekiwiki. The in built scripting and api allowing us to interface to the wiki using programming languages of our choice means we don't have to rely on one coding format. There is a very active forum and the Mindtouch team are quick to answer. This is especially good since the forum tends to be the open source users who have not purchased the enterprise version. Well done Mindtouch!

The best way for knowledge sharing for companies

MindTouch Deki has been used during half a year in our company. Other CMS was used till then. For instance WordPress and MediaWiki. However, these were not accepted by the user. The advantage of MindTouch Deki is : (1) An educational cost of the end user is lower. (2) It comes to be able to share old-timer's tacit knowledge. (3) Because it is open source, many can be controlled for ourself. (4) The purchase of the support can be selected. (5) The range of choice of the platform is wide. (6) It is possible to link with the mission critical system via API.

The ultimate social enterprise platform.

I've been using MindTouch Deki (formerly Deki Wiki) for nearly a year now and want to speak to it from an overall business point of view. One of the challenges that most businesses and organizations face is how to deal with the ever-growing number of information silos that exist across an organization. It doesn't matter what industry or type of business because it applies to all businesses. These silos actually hinder a company's speed to market, agility in adjusting to market changes, customer acquisition, customer service, overall growth and ultimately profits. Every business that wants to stay competitive needs to address the problem of silos and stay on top of five key areas: financial systems, CRM systems, file sharing and storage systems, collaboration, and informatics. The problem is that most organizations don't have one central collaborative surface or dashboard that hooks in all these systems and information silos, even legacy systems, and still maintain IT governance. What I love about MindTouch Deki is that it solves this by providing businesses with a dashboard to their entire organization by enabling them to surface the data in real-time from all the systems across the organization. This gives businesses a competitive edge by enabling them to make critical decisions in advance because they are able to identify leading indicators within the organization instead of making those decisions after the fact. MindTouch Deki is the ultimate social enterprise platform.

MindTouch Deki s a really great product because it has a strong and solid architecture (C# and run on mono, mysql, php, apache). The software is really open-source and you could find a good documentation in the forum or, obviously, in the wiki!

We moved from TWiki (itself good) to Deki purely for its WYSIWYG editing. Since then we have appreciated its search engine, easy upgrade and other features. So much so that we will (hopefully) soon be taking out a support contract.

I deployed Deki wiki internally for a technical knowledge base, but it wasn't long before business groups started to ask, "Hey, can we use Deki too?" Using templates and Dekiscript, I'm able to help any group create useful information in a consistent, reusable manner and every page looks like it was designed by an artist.

Ok, So, began using Deki WIki a while ago. It' freakin' awesome! I like it because of its incredibly easy to use wysiwig, its marvelous ability of being able to connect to my existing database, as well as SharePoint! In fact, I may actually replace SharePoint, but the only thing holding me back is that Deki Wiki falls short on email notifications, and instead offers RSS feed which is not enough. Other than that, it truly is a blazing fast app, that has lots of solutions, and lots of more potential.

We've been going through product after product trying to get something that help us deal with our internal and external support documentataion. We've dabbled in Sharepoint, Notes, and some older school document management products. Nothing was doing the job. Everything had a learning curve that was outrageous, not to mention a development time frame of months or years and price tag that was stunning. Along comes Dekiwiki. We went from deciding to try Deki by using Mindtouch's hosting options to up and running with our staff posting and editing documents in just two days. We're just about to move our entire corporate website over to using Deki because it makes much more sense for us than our CMS package and its outdated paradigm.

Deki--ease with power

After looking at countless opensource options, we literally stumbled on to Deki. As an organization that caters to a couple of hundred staff with low to moderate tech skills, we've found Deki an excellent fit. It is brain dead easy to use for simple page and text creation. But beyond that, it simplified the processes of adding outside content to a point where even the average computer user can create mashups with less than 30 minutes of training. Now our intermediate users look like power users, all without writing one line of code or html. The company has been very responsive in tech support, something hard to find these days. More than any other software package we use, I am most excited to see where Mindtouch takes Deki next.

Before deciding on a wiki for our staff intranet, I reviewed a lot of open source wiki applications. None came close to the combination of ease of use and power of Mindtouch Deki. Integrating other web services, such as Google, YouTube, Flickr and RSS feeds is a snap. From a usability, Deki offers a very low barrier to creating and collaborating on web content. Navigation, page creation, revision control, account management, attaching files and searching are very easy to do and very well integrated.

Deki for Marketing Campaign
Reviewed October 2, 2008

I’ve been using Deki for over a year now for both landing page development and general marketing campaign information dissemination and sharing. Using Deki to create reusable landing page templates makes it easy to test different messaging without requiring a Webmaster to generate and post pages for each variation. A huge benefit and real time saver in large campaigns. Change control allowing versioning and easy rollbacks is built right in fostering best practices in that regard and without effort. Using Deki to share information with sales, developers, management and other interested and affected parties is lot easier than using an intranet Web site or complex content management tool for that purpose.
